The Quarantine In Reykjavik June 1st through June 6th

Our Quarantine Hotel. Here we will stay six nights. The whole stay we are only allowed to go out twice for just one hour.
Our room, quite o.k.
The food is brought to the door in cardboard boxes.
It is a good vareity and more than enough. The only thing that is not as we are used to: It is cold and of course we do not have access to a microwave.
The meal is delivered to the door
Delivery is done by the Red Cross persons just to the door. Here you can see their protection clothes; gloves; FFP2 mask plus a face protection shield.

Yesterday we ordered different things via the Internet from a grocery store. Here the delivery
It was quite interesting to see what we ordered because the Website where we placed the order was half in English and half in Icelandic language...


Those three pictures are from our hourly walk which we did on the second day of our quarantine. The stones are volcanic origin!

And the following pictures are from our second (and last) hourly walk. This was on Friday, June 4th:

Sunday moring June 6th: 
Sabine had to take the second test (i did'nt, because I am vaccinated). In just over three hours later we got the information:"everything o.k., you can leave now". SURPRIZE! originally the information was that we would stay until Monday. So we had do find and book a Hotel (on our own expenses of course).
Afterwards we had time to explore part of Reykjavik.
And this supposes to be the best hot dog 
So nice can bad weather be...
And here we enjoy finally a real espreso coffee.

First week on the road

For the next four weeks this will be our home. Quite well equipped. With shift gear and of course servo steering. We had to shop a few things to add comfort. The table is also our office. Our first stop was an open air museum, where we gathered some information about Icelands recent history. Of course, Iceland is a volcanic island. Prepaired to walk up for just under an hour to the newest Islandic volcano First signs of it! Yes, and in the distant there it is! That is from as close as we could go to it. The lava flows really far! And here we could have grilled a saussage! Again the glowing lava. Next intersting stop was in a geothermic area with solfataras. It was smelling and steaming... How our Iceland Trip started

That was in the first Corona-Year 2020. We noticed that due to Covid there must hardly be any tourists in Iceland. Sabine wanted to go there since years, but in the last years the huge numbers of tourists had put us off. Now was the time! I did some research in the Internet and found Kria-Tours, a German Tourist Office that is specialized for nordic holidays and therefore also for Iceland. Our plan was to hire a mobile home and tour for three weeks around that island. Katja, the so very helpful lady from Kria-Tours gave us a lot of tipps and hints. So we were ready to go there beginning of Sept. 2020. I had booked the flights myself directly with Icelandair. Well, a very few days before we should have left, Katja informed us, that due to very new regulations we would have to undergo a five days Quaranteene after arriving in Iceland.
